Sheet steel is found on practically every construction site because of its impressive strength-weight ratios, non-combustability, consistency and quality, ease of use and recyclability. Steel sheets allow for efficient and economical modular building practices. We have invested in developing high-performance steel products that meet the varied needs of architects, interior designers, building engineers and homeowners. We provide innovative solutions for applications in framing, roofing, decking, cladding, trusses and other structural components. Our growth opportunities are in providing value-added sheet for the main construction market segments:
  • Residential - urban/suburban developments for the mass market, prefabricated units, custom homes with high architectural design,
  • Commercial - low, mid and high-rise structures,
  • Institutional - built for safety, hygiene, longevity and other high public access features,
  • Industrial - manufacturing facilities, warehousing, parking structures, including both custom designed and pre-engineered buildings, and
  • Agricultural - conventional barns, sheds, open-air roofed enclosures for animals, farm equipment and harvesting activities.

Quality - as a construction material, our steel can be produced in very high volumes to precise specifications with metallurgical properties for strength, flexibility and corrosion resistance.

Design innovation - Hamilton Steel offers a variety of steel grades and thicknesses that give architects and developers a high degree of design flexibility, including products that support many different kinds of roofing design possibilities and framing systems.

Durability - the strength and flexibility of our products enables the construction of buildings/structures that can better withstand challenging environmental and meteorological conditions, including hurricanes, earthquakes, and high variability in humidity and temperature.

Cost - steel construction products are fabricated to efficiently and easily integrate into existing structural systems, and most onsite waste can be sold afterwards as scrap that is recycled into other steel-based products.

Environmental - steel-based construction is environmentally friendly, enabling the design of more energy-efficient buildings using products made with recycled steel.

Lightweight Steel Frames (LSF) - LSF is versatile and generally more cost-effective than standard lumber. It's a proven, consistent product for non-load bearing and load bearing applications. The variety of steel thicknesses and strengths in LSF allows for greater design flexibility in creating longer floor spans for open areas and higher, straighter walls. Steel studs are dimensionally stable and durable. Workers can be easily trained to use LSF systems in combination with other materials for walls, floors and roof assemblies, providing all the structural elements in buildings from one-to-six stories in height. Steel framing can be supplied to exact lengths, eliminating much onsite cutting and waste compared to wood and concrete. Also, job-site scrap often has resale value.

Steel Roofing - Prefinished steel roofs are lightweight and durable, offering high resistance to fire and wind, and can last several decades longer than asphalt roofs. Steel roofs are used today in about half of all low-rise commercial, industrial and institutional buildings (shopping centres, schools, churches, libraries, skyscrapers, homes). For large commercial buildings, asphalt roofing systems can be retrofitted with sheet steel roofs efficiently and without any expensive disposal costs. Steel roofs are available in multiple colors, paint systems, lengths and widths for nearly every conceivable roofing design. Steel offers excellent design flexibility, and contributes to energy savings through its high reflectivity.

Decking - Open web steel joists and decking components, which encompass the majority of commercial flooring systems, are manufactured from hot rolled and cold rolled sheet steel. Decking is also produced from free-zinc galvanized and zinc-iron galvanneal sheets. Composite floor decking relies on concrete poured atop the sheet metal, creating a very strong yet flexible interlocked slab through a series of embossments rolled into the webs and flutes of the deck. Steel decking for roofs and floors offers more durability and versatility than traditional materials such as wood and concrete.

Steel Siding/Cladding - Sheet steel wall assemblies are economical and durable under tough environmental conditions. The variety of cladding profiles, paint systems and colors available provides for architectural and design flexibility. Our cladding products are energy efficient, non-combustible and require minimum maintenance. Installation time is reduced, which can be a factor in allowing for faster building occupancy. Sheet steel roofing and siding has been used on agricultural buildings for many years.

Steel Building Systems (SBS) - SBS provides the basis of what is commonly referred to as a pre-engineered building. Developed to provide low-cost and rapid fabrication, SBS features structural steel and cladding components. We offer a vast array of colours and architectural finishes, enabling builders to achieve cost-effectiveness and design uniqueness in SBS applications such as churches, schools, shopping centres and office buildings. Advances in technology such as the standing seam roof and new prepaint systems give designers flexibility for innovating with building structure and style.
